Introduction of 1- and 2-character domains
On the 31st of August 2020, the .lu registry Restana introduced 1- and 2-character domain names. This introduction will be in 3 phases:

  • Sunrise: from the 31st of August until the 2nd of October, holders of a trademark that is valid in Luxembourg and companies registered in Luxembourg can apply for their corresponding name. Application must be done through the registry’s website. The price is €750.
  • Landrush / auction: from the 2nd until the 30th of November, anyone can apply for a short domain name through an online bidding process with a minimum bid of €100. This must also be done through the registry’s website; they will publish more information from the 19th of October here.
  • The General Availability will be on the 15th of December (time yet to be decided); from that moment on, everyone can register their short domains through Openprovider.

Full information is available at the registry's website.
