Registration is realtime and the company registration number or personal identification number is required in all handles.

Note that for entities based in Spain, the registry will strictly check the province included in the handle. See for the correct naming our separate knowledge base article.




A transfer of a .es domain follows the steps as described below.

* Request the transfer in Openprovider
* The domain administrator receives an e-mail from the registry to approve the domain transfer. This approval should be given within 10 days.

After a transfer, the expiration date remains unchanged. The transfer will be free of charge, but take care of a possible quick renewal.

Please, be aware that all contacts have to be correct. It means, with the province / state added and also the company number or passport/id. If not, domain will be transferred but neither contacts nor DNS will be changed in registry side.

In case the e-mail to confirm the transfer is not received, the registry can re-send it. Contact them at or ask our support department.

Trade (owner change)


A trade has to be done directly from the registry.

Updates to domain data or contact data can take up to 24 hours to be processed by the registry. The e-mail address of a contact can not be changed; if you need to change the e-mail address of the admin contact, please create a new contact and update the domain (do no update the current handle). 




When a domain is deleted the admin contact will receive an e-mail that needs to be approved. He has 10 days to approve the deletion otherwise the domain will renew automatically


Restore (reactivation)


A domain can be reactivated via the Openprovider control panel for 10 days after deletion of the domainname.
