Successful domain registration via RCP or XML API or REST API requires:

The domain's Owner, Admin, Tech contact handle must have the following data included:

  • Private individual
    • Swedish personal number (registrants from Sweden)
    • Social security number (registrants from other countries)

You can refer to free tools online for a general check of a Swedish SSN or an SSN/PIN in different countries

Please note; if this number is too long, it will be necessary to remove the first two digits.

  • Legal entity
    • Swedish organizational number (registrants from Sweden)
    • Company registration number (registrants from other countries)

NOTE :

  • The 'Contact Verification Email' will be sent by Openprovider to the domain holder. It's the same email you are already familiar with, presently sent for gTLD domains under ICANN policy. To find the email template, click here. Domain owners will receive a second reminder on the 7th day after registration, transfer, or update. They will have 14 days to verify their email by clicking a link. If they do not verify their email, the domain will be suspended.
  • The registrant of the domain name may get an email directly from the .SE Registry (The Swedish Internet Foundation) asking to re-check and validate the registrant data if the same is invalid. As a part of .se registration process to maintain data sanity, the registry compares the registered information with submitted documents and does not perform changes themselves. The registrant is responsible for following up to this email directly with the Registry and this is NOT DONE via Registrar / Reseller. Please note that if the registrant did not reply to this email within 14 days, the registry reserves the right to SUSPEND / DELETE the domain.
  • Domain names with Number combinations in the format xxxxxx-xxxx and xxxxxxxx-xxxx that comprise, or may comprise, a personal identity number cannot be registered.
  • If the registrant lists a Swedish address, but wishes to use an ID number issued by a different country, then the ID number must include the two-letter country code of the issuing county. For example, a passport from the Netherlands with number 12345678 would be written as NL12345678. For Swedish residents, do not include any country code; the valid format is 123456-7890 (6 digits, dash, 4 digits). Please note to verify the company registration number on this website.
  • registrations will be automatically rejected with error 125: "Invalid Social Security Number (SSN) or Personal Identification Number!" if they are linked to domain handles with:
    - Social Security Numbers or Personal Identification Numbers that contain special characters (!?$%*+=).
    - Social Security Numbers or Personal Identification Numbers that do not conform to the expected format of the selected country.

NB:
due to specifics of the integration with the registry, Swedish personal number has to be put in the social security number field of the domain owner handle

Successful domain transfer via RCP or XML API or REST API requires:

  • authorisation code
  • two or more nameservers or a nameserver group
  • registrant e-mail address verification applies (from April 10, 2024)
  • The domain owner contact must have the following data included:

    • Private individual
      • Swedish personal number (registrants from Sweden)
      • Social security number (registrants from other countries)

You can refer to free tools online for a general check of a Swedish SSN or an SSN/PIN in different countries

    • Legal entity
      • Swedish organizational number (registrants from Sweden)
      • Company registration number (registrants from other countries)

Notes:

  • Transfers will be automatically rejected with error 125: "Invalid Social Security Number (SSN) or Personal Identification Number!" if they are linked to domain handles with:
    - Social Security Numbers or Personal Identification Numbers that contain special characters (!?$%*+=).
    - Social Security Numbers or Personal Identification Numbers that do not conform to the expected format of the selected country.
  • The transfer will be completed in realtime. Domain contacts are not notified about the transfer. The registration period after a successful transfer will remain unchanged.
  • Error: Transfer request failed : Authorization Error, the password did not match
Cause : The Auth Code is incorrect, please ask the registrar to refresh the Auth Code and enter it again.

Additional notes on a .se transfer

  • If a transfer is completed after the domain expired at the previous registrar, we will enable auto-renewal for this domain so that it does not expire. This does not depend on your account settings for auto-renewal. You can change this from the domain details.
Authorization code required yes
Method of confirmation authcode
Registration period after transfer unchanged
Average transfer time Real-Time
Advanced and simple transfers available Contact our Sales department to check if easy transfer of 100 or more .se domains is available.

The registry does not support retrieval of the authorization code. If you want to get the authorization code through our API or want to reset it, use the resetAuthCodeDomainRequest (XML API) or ResetAuthCode (REST API) command. You may also use RCP (Reseller Control Panel) >> Authorization Code Management

    - Social Security Numbers or Personal Identification Numbers that contain special characters (!?$%*+=).

  • If the Nameservers are not being updated, please make sure that the contact handles are correct, check the "registration" tab and also do not forget to fill in the "STATE" field which is strictly monitored by the registry.
  • The company registration number CAN NOT be changed via an update in the contact.
The only way to update the company registration number for a .se domain is via creating a clone, adding a new handle and connecting domains to the new handle.
Do not forget to sync the domains with the registry!

Delete

Delete - via RCP or XML API or REST API.

After expiration or deletion of a domain name, it will enter into a 60-day "Deactivation period". During this period, the domain name does not resolve anymore but can still be reactivated.

After this 60-day period, the domain enters a 7-day "Quarantine period" during which the domain can not be reactivated anymore. After those 7 days, the domain is released again by the registry and is available for new registration.

The "renewal date offset" for .se domains is -9 days. That means that auto-renewal or auto-expiration is processed 9 days after the registry's expiration date. A domain registered on the 1st of January, will be removed from the zone only on the 10th of January. You have until 9 days after the registry's expiration date to renew the domain in Openprovider.

Policies
Registration agreement The registry requires that a registration agreement is in place between the provider and the domain holder. The text of this registration agreement and any required supplements is the following:

Due to the regular changes in registry rules and configuration or missing information from registry side, and despite our effort to keep our knowledge base up-to-date, information in the knowledge base may be outdated or incorrect. If you encounter some issue, please report it through the "HotJar" feedback collector on the bottom right, or (if it is blocked by your browser) by clicking the "Submit a request" link below. No rights can be derived from the information in this knowledge base. If there is discrepancy between the knowledge base and the process in Openprovider, the process in Openprovider is leading.
