Delete

Explicit delete

  • Requested via RCP or XML API or REST API
    • After sending a delete request, the registry will send to the domain owner an e-mail, asking him if he wants to take over the management of the domain. If he does not do that within 3 working days, the registry will remove the domain from the zone file.
    • After 30 more days, the domain becomes available again.
    • If a recently registered domain name is deleted before it has been billed to the registrar (normally within the first 60 days), the registry will not delete the domain immediately but mark it 'auto-expire' after the first year of registration.

  • In order to delete the domain name, the registry has to receive a written (signed) request from the holder of the domain name.
  • Application forms website : www.nic.lv/en/application-forms
  • If the registry did not receive the payment for the right to use the domain, the domain name will be deleted in accordance with the policy for acquisition of the right to use the domain names under the TLD .lv.

Restore / reactivate

  • If the registrant has chosen to take over the management of the domain name, he can choose to transfer the domain to Openprovider again.
  • If the domain was not taken over and is still in its 30 days "locked" period, please contact us and include the domain name and approval on the €25 reactivation fee in your request. Restoring a .LV domain is a manual process and can take a day before it is processed at the registry.

Registration agreement The registry requires that a registration agreement is in place between the provider and the domain holder. The text of this registration agreement and any required supplements is the following:

Due to the regular changes in registry rules and configuration or missing information from registry side, and despite our effort to keep our knowledge base up-to-date, information in the knowledge base may be outdated or incorrect. If you encounter some issue, please report it through the "HotJar" feedback collector on the bottom right, or (if it is blocked by your browser) by clicking the "Submit a request" link below. No rights can be derived from the information in this knowledge base. If there is discrepancy between the knowledge base and the process in Openprovider, the process in Openprovider is leading.
