This article describes the procedures and requirements of .lk domain names.

Registrations can be started through the control panel.

To register a .lk domain (Sri Lanka), the following information is required:

- A passport number (for individuals), or
- A business registration number (for companies or legal entities).
- Intended use of the domain – a brief description of how the domain will be used (e.g., personal website, company homepage, service page, etc.).


Important Notes

- Two- and three-character domains, as well as numeric domains with up to 10 digits, are subject to a higher pricing tier.

- During the registration process, the domain holder will receive CC emails related to each step:
Order confirmation
Payment request
Registration confirmation

These emails are for informational purposes only. No action is required from the domain holder, as all steps are fully handled by Openprovider.
Transfers can be requested through the Openprovider control panel.

Once requested, please make this change:

Change the billing contact (for payments) and administrative contact (for management). The administrative contact can request such change by e-mail to hostmaster@nic.lk. The contact data to use for both contacts is:

  • Registering .lk domains for sale/resale of the domain name itself is not allowed
