This article describes the procedures and requirements of .hr domain names.

Successful domain registration requires:

  • Registrant requirement:
    • For private individual
      • private individuals from Republic of Croatia having OIB (personal identification number) in the handle*
    • For companies
      • legal entities registered in the Republic of Croatia (trading companies, associations, political parties and other organizations with legal existence)
      • branch offices of foreign companies as well as legal entities from EU with a valid VAT number in the handle
  • Two or more nameservers or a nameserver group
  • .hr domains are registered manually and hence registration requests aren't processed real-time. As long as all the requirements are fulfilled, the registration normally doesn't take more than 2-3working days. 


* When register the domain for a private individual, make sure to insert the OIB numbers (without 'OIB') in the field "Passport number" in the handle of the registrant.

Successful domain transfer requires:

  • registrant requirement:
    • For private individual
      • private individuals from Republic of Croatia having OIB (personal identification number) in the handle*
    • For companies
      • legal entities registered in the Republic of Croatia (trading companies, associations, political parties and other organizations with legal existence)
      • branch offices of foreign companies as well as legal entities from EU with a valid VAT number in the handle
  • two or more nameservers or a nameserver group
  • owner/registrant contact in the transfer request needs to match the data in the registry (whois data). An owner/registrant change would need to be done before or after the transfer.

* When register the domain for a private individual, make sure to insert the OIB numbers (without 'OIB') in the field "Passport number" in the handle of the registrant.


Important: After the request is placed, the current registrant will receive an email from the registry with a link to click on to confirm the transfer which needs to be confirmed in order to finish the transfer.

Request transfer at the new provider/registrar. The receiving registrar contacts the registry and they send an email to the domain owner email address.
