This article describes the procedures and requirements of .co.il domain names.

Successful domain registration requires:

  • If registrant is a company, legal form of the entity  (Ltd, Inc, GMBH, etc.) must be stated in the Owner and Admin Handle.
  • In order for the registration to complete, the registrant should click a link received via email.
    This should be done instantly, as the domain name is still available for registration until the validation process is completed.
  • The above mentioned contact verification is valid for 24 hours only.
  • If the registrant / Admin Contact is an organization / company, the legal form (Ltd, Inc, GMBH, etc.)  has to be clearly stated in the handle.
  • Nameserver(s) are mandatory with the application otherwise the application will timeout.

 

NB: registration process takes 2 - 3 business days to complete

  • If domain is transferred from ISOC-IL - transfer application form completion is required. Form is sent by the Openprovider support
  • If registrant is a company - legal form of the entity  (Ltd, Inc, GMBH, etc.) must be stated in the owner handle

Owner change (trade)

  • Trade - process is manual, request, containing domain name and receiving owner handle should be submitted to Openprovider support
  • Owner change application form completion is required. Form sent back via email in response to trade request

Other update

  • Domain attributes update - via RCP. Not real-time, can take up to 2 days to complete

NB: If error code=541 description=Invalid attribute value; Organization Legal form for CONTACT invalid or missing is returned - ensure that the company legal form of owner and admin handles is filled-in

According to the Israel Internet association (ISOC) grace period rules, that was updated due to the Covid-19  CO.IL domain will be disabled 45 days after its expiration date and will be deleted in 90 days after its expiration date.
During all this time the current registrant can renew the domain with no additional fee and without any recovery procedures.

Delete

  • Deletion - can't be requested explicitly. Domain can only expire. Autorenewal setting must be disabled for domains scheduled for deletion
