Owner change (trade)

An owner change can be performed by updating the owner handle of the domain. This change is processed realtime.

Other update

An update is processed realtime. Nameservers are instantly updated in the registry zonefile.

Delete

Deletion is not possible for .ai domains. Instead, deleted domains will expire at the registry.

Restore / reactivate

Restore of .ai domains is not supported. Instead, the registry runs an auction model for expired .ai domains. On every 3rd Friday of the month, not-renewed .ai domains are released for auction on this website after a period of 3 months after the expiration date. The auctions last about 10 days, but may be extended. Further information can be found in the registry's FAQ.

The auctions are held by the registry; the registrar is not involved. The transfer of .ai domains to Openprovider is possible after the successful auction.
