The domain registration needs to be manually requested by us and requires:

  • Local domain owner required (office/residence).
  • Copy of commercial license (companies) or copy of Identity Card (natural persons).

Below are the further rules that need to be checked before sending the request to us:

  • Nameservers must be configured and return an authoritative answer before the domain is requested.
  • A natural person must be at least 18 years of age
  • Limited number of domains per registrant (10 for legal entities; 1 for natural persons).
  • The domain name should not contain any obscene words and names incorporating foul language or names that do not comply with the Laws of Cyprus
  • The domain name may not relate to politicians or political or historical activities or for which permission is required from a competent Cyprus Authority unless and except such permission is given and proven to the registry
  • The domain name may not be a generic, sectoral or a fundamental name that identifies a branch, group, activity, professional, or business sector. Registering such a name could unfairly imply certain or exclusive rights appertaining to it.
  • Geographic names which identify geographical locations as they are found on official maps can be issued only to the relevant local authority.

Registration agreement The registry requires that a registration agreement is in place between the provider and the domain holder. The text of this registration agreement and any required supplements is the following:

Due to the regular changes in registry rules and configuration or missing information from registry side, and despite our effort to keep our knowledge base up-to-date, information in the knowledge base may be outdated or incorrect. If you encounter some issue, please report it through the "HotJar" feedback collector on the bottom right, or (if it is blocked by your browser) by clicking the "Submit a request" link below. No rights can be derived from the information in this knowledge base. If there is discrepancy between the knowledge base and the process in Openprovider, the process in Openprovider is leading.
