New DNSbelgium Registrant Verification Process

From 1st March 2022, dnsBelgium will implement in production a new registrant verification process.
This process is really simple, and it will ensure the ownership of the domains:

  1. Domain is registered by a private individual (by default, in pendingCreate);

  2. The registrant will receive an email from dnsBelgium with a link to validate the owner data;

  3. Once the data is validated, the domain will be active.

  4. For company registrations, a company contact can go through verification.

  • To validate the registrant information for Belgian private individuals, the registry is using the service “itsme” or “eID card reader”.
  • To validate the registrant information for Dutch private individuals, the registry is using the service “itsme” or “iDIN”.
  • For registrants outside The Netherlands or Belgium, the registrants will have to validate their identity using Onfido.

The registry created a video to explain the full process: https://www.tryout.dnsbelgium.be/en/verification
