When you want to receive emails sent to another email address, you can choose between setting up email forwarding or an alias.
Forward vs Alias: What’s the Difference?
Email Forwarding: This feature redirects emails from one mailbox to any other email address, even outside your domain. For instance, emails sent to contact@example.com can be forwarded to example@gmail.com.
Email Alias: An alias allows you to use multiple alternative email addresses that deliver messages to the same mailbox within the same domain. For example, emails sent to contact@example.com, admin@example.com, and shop@example.com will all be delivered to the mailbox for yourname@example.com.
How to Set Up Email Forwarding?
To set up email forwarding, follow these steps:
Log in to your webmail account at https://mail.op-email.eu/SOGo/
Once logged in successfully, navigate to Preferences → Email → Forward.
Check the Forward incoming messages box.
-
Enter the email addresses to which you want the messages forwarded.
If needed, enable the Always forward option and check Keep a copy to retain a copy of the emails in your account.
-
Save the changes.
Important:
A valid DKIM record is mandatory for email forwarding on domains using our email service.
If DKIM is missing, receiving mail providers, especially Gmail may reject forwarded messages with errors such as “5.7.1 This message does not meet our delivery requirements.”
The DKIM record is automatically provided when purchasing a mailbox, or it can be retrieved via RCP → Email Accounts → Domains → DNS (under Actions for the domain).
After adding or updating the DKIM record, please allow time for DNS propagation. If emails are still not delivered to the inbox, we recommend checking the recipient’s spam folder.
